Kacey Prishwalko, LCSW | PLLC
Hi, I'm Kacey.
For nearly a decade I worked out of the Manhattan VA on East 23rd Street, much of that time spent doing home visits to bring support to veterans who otherwise might not have been able to access it. I walked alongside previously unhoused veterans as they entered their first apartment, and I sat with WWII veterans, now well into their 90s, reflecting on their service as one chapter in a much longer, complex novel. I found myself sitting at kitchen tables and in living rooms of innumerable styles and conditions, meeting with veterans and, often, their families, caregivers, neighbors, and pets.
As a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist, I consider it a gift to be invited into someone's life at their most vulnerable, even more so to be welcomed into their home, and I take that responsibility seriously. I founded my own practice to offer quality psychotherapeutic care, unbound by the constraints of a large healthcare system and free to bring creativity, flexibility, and intention to the care I provide. Whether we meet in your home or online, my aim is to do this work the way I've always believed it should be done.
My approach is rooted in insight-oriented psychotherapy, meaning I'm curious about the ways parts of ourselves can live outside of awareness, and about the deeper patterns that shape us. At the same time, I don't approach therapy with a rigid or predetermined modality. Every person's journey is different. You may have heard of CBT, DBT, CPT, IFS and other evidence-based approaches, and we'll draw on those when they make sense for you. Together, we'll decide how to map the path based on your unique terrain in a style that's unhurried, collaborative, and genuinely human.
When I'm not in session, you'll likely find me biking around the city, picking through my vinyl records, or doing my best to meet the ever-rising expectations of my two dignitaries cats, Roxy and Puck.
